Apologies for not keeping this site up to date.  With the popularity of Facebook, less focus has been placed on the blog page.

To keep everyone updated:

  1. PARKING LOT – !!!!!!  It’s finished!  The Redd Rd. trails….aka Lost Dog Trailhead….El Paso’s oldest mountain bike trail system….has it’s own trail head, parking lot, and trail map.  It’s getting lots of use. If you see any trash in the area that you can’t or aren’t willing to remove or anything has been damaged, please let us know via facebook or email.
  2. PUZZLER – MLK weekend.  We are now calling it the Puzzler Endurance Weekend as this year we’ve added a trail running marathon which will be hosted and managed by the El Paso Marathon Association.  We plan on treating our volunteers much better with catered food (not done by us) and plenty of suds.
  3. REVEAL THE PATH – a biking movie – In conjunction with the YMCA we are hosting a viewing of the adventure cycling movie at the  downtown library on December 9 at 4pm.  More info on Facebook.  Advance tickets are $9 online.  $12 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased here.  The club will hold a raffle to raise money for the Y’s northeast bike co-op which focuses on getting kids their own bikes built up by the kids themselves.  Nuclear Sunrise Stitchworks is donating a $225 package of custom bags made just for you.  Other goodies include a ProGold maintenance package and jersey, a set of Stan’s No-Tubes women’s casual clothing, and a Texas State Parks thermos set.  Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5.
  4. BIKEPACKING – Reveal the Path may inspire you to give bikepacking a go.  Club president Dave Wilson finished 3 major bikepacking adventure races this year in his first attempt and is now making custom bikepacking gear under the Nuclear Sunrise Stitchworks label for those looking to enter what some see as the final frontier of mountain biking.   You can read more about Dave’s adventure on his blog.  Some club members have shown the desire to learn more about this sport….which is just backpacking but on 2 wheels.  If you would be interested in learning more, Dave is willing to share his knowledge.  Let us know if you would be interested in attending a Bikepacking 101 clinic and we’ll get one scheduled.
